Other types of vehicle

In dry conditions, why is it still wise to keep well back from a large vehicle in front?

  • To save fuel
  • So the vehicle behind can overtake you
  • To improve your view of the road ahead
    Correct
  • Because it is the law to stay 50 metres back

Why?

Rule 222 of The Highway Code advises keeping well back from large vehicles. Sitting close behind blocks your view of the road ahead, so dropping back lets you see more and react sooner, even in good weather.
