On a motorway with three lanes, which lane should you normally drive in?
على طريق سريع (motorway) بثلاث حارات، في أي حارة يجب أن تقود عادةً؟
- The left-hand lane, keeping to it unless you are overtakingالحارة اليسرى، مع الالتزام بها ما لم تكن تتجاوز (overtaking)إجابة صحيحة
- The middle lane, so you can overtake on either sideالحارة الوسطى، حتى تتمكن من التجاوز من الجهتين
- The right-hand lane, which is for faster carsالحارة اليمنى، فهي مخصصة للسيارات الأسرع
- Whichever lane has the least trafficأي حارة بها ازدحام أقل
لماذا؟
الحارة اليسرى هي حارة القيادة العادية. تنص القاعدة 264 من قانون الطريق على أن تلتزم بالحارة اليسرى ما لم تكن تتجاوز، فالحارتان الوسطى واليمنى للتجاوز وليستا للقيادة المستمرة. عُد إلى اليسار بعد أن تتجاوز بأمان.
The left-hand lane is the normal driving lane. Rule 264 of The Highway Code says you should keep in the left lane unless you are overtaking; the middle and right lanes are for overtaking, not for cruising. Move back to the left once you have safely passed.
