There are double white lines along the middle of the road and the line nearest you is solid. What does this mean?

لماذا؟
عندما يكون الخط الأبيض الأقرب إليك متصلاً، تنص القاعدة 129 من قانون الطريق على أنه يجب ألا تعبره أو تسير فوقه، إلا للانعطاف إلى طريق جانبي أو عقار، أو لتجاوز مركبة متوقفة أو درّاجة أو حصان أو مركبة صيانة طرق تسير بسرعة 10 أميال في الساعة أو أقل.
When the white line nearest to you is solid, rule 129 of The Highway Code says you must not cross or straddle it, except to turn into a side road or premises, or to pass a stationary vehicle or a cyclist, horse or road-maintenance vehicle travelling at 10 mph or less.
