Double white lines run along the road and the line nearest you is solid. A slow car is ahead. May you cross the line to overtake it?

لماذا؟
عندما يكون الخط الأقرب إليك متصلًا، تنص القاعدة 129 من قانون الطريق على أنه يجب ألا تعبره أو تسير فوقه إلا عند الأمان والحاجة لتجاوز مركبة متوقفة، أو دراجة أو حصان أو مركبة صيانة تسير بسرعة 10 أميال/ساعة أو أقل. والسيارة المتحركة العادية لا تندرج ضمن ذلك.
Where the line nearest you is solid, Rule 129 of The Highway Code says you must not cross or straddle it unless it is safe and you need to pass a stationary vehicle, or overtake a cyclist, horse or road maintenance vehicle travelling at 10 mph or less. A normal moving car does not qualify.
