لماذا؟
تنص القاعدة 239 من قانون الطريق على أسلوب "الوصول الهولندي" (Dutch Reach): افتح الباب باليد المقابلة له، فذلك يجعلك تلتفت وتنظر فوق كتفك للتحقّق من وجود راكبي دراجات وغيرهم من مستخدمي الطريق.
Rule 239 of The Highway Code recommends the 'Dutch Reach': open the door with the hand on the opposite side to it. This makes you turn your body and look over your shoulder for cyclists and other road users.
