How much can your stopping distance increase when driving on icy roads?

لماذا؟
تنص القاعدة 126 (والقاعدة 231 الخاصة بالطقس الجليدي) على أن مسافة التوقف قد تصبح أكبر بعشر مرات على الجليد مقارنة بالطريق الجاف. لذا خفف سرعتك كثيراً، واترك فجوة أكبر بكثير، واكبح بلطف شديد (brake gently) لتجنّب الانزلاق.
Rule 126, together with rule 231 on icy weather, warns that stopping distances can be up to ten times greater on ice than on a dry road. Slow right down, leave a much larger gap and brake very gently to avoid skidding.
