A pedestrian is waiting to cross at a zebra crossing. Why should you not wave or beckon them across?
أحد المشاة ينتظر ليعبر عند ممر مشاة مخطط (zebra crossing). لماذا يجب ألا تلوّح له بالعبور؟
- It is against the law to signal to pedestriansلأن الإشارة إلى المشاة مخالفة للقانون
- It wastes time and holds up the traffic behind youلأن ذلك يضيّع الوقت ويعطّل حركة المرور خلفك
- Another vehicle may be approaching that you cannot see, and it could be dangerousلأنه قد تقترب مركبة أخرى لا تراها، فيصبح الأمر خطيرًاإجابة صحيحة
- Pedestrians are not allowed to cross until the lights changeلأن المشاة لا يُسمح لهم بالعبور حتى تتغيّر الإشارة
لماذا؟
تنص القاعدة 195 من قانون الطريق على عدم التلويح للمشاة أو استخدام البوق لدعوتهم إلى العبور، لأن مركبة أخرى قد تكون مقتربة ولا تراها، فيندفع الماشي إلى مسارها.
Rule 195 of The Highway Code says you should not wave or use your horn to invite pedestrians across. Another vehicle you cannot see may be approaching, and the pedestrian could step into its path.
