Hazard awareness

On a hot day your car feels stuffy and warm. Why is this a hazard?

  • It makes your steering lighter
  • The warm, stuffy air can make you feel drowsy
    Correct
  • It improves your grip on the road
  • It has no effect on your driving

Why?

Rule 237 of The Highway Code says in hot weather you should keep your vehicle well ventilated to avoid drowsiness, as a stuffy, warm car can make you sleepy and slow to react. Also watch for a soft road surface.
