You have stopped on the hard shoulder of a motorway after breaking down. How should you leave the car?
توقّفت على كتف الطريق (hard shoulder) في طريق سريع بعد عطل. كيف يجب أن تغادر السيارة؟
- Get out by the left-hand door and wait behind the safety barrierاخرج من الباب الأيسر وانتظر خلف حاجز الأمانإجابة صحيحة

لماذا؟
تنص القاعدة 277 من قانون الطريق على أن تغادر مركبتك من الباب الأبعد عن السير — أي الجانب الأيسر — وأن تنتظر خلف حاجز أمان إن وُجد. فالوقوف بين السيارة والسير المارّ، أو البقاء داخلها على كتف الطريق، أمر شديد الخطورة.
Rule 277 of The Highway Code says to leave your vehicle by the door furthest from the traffic — the left-hand side — and to wait behind a safety barrier if there is one. Standing between the car and passing traffic, or staying inside on the hard shoulder, is very dangerous.
