You need to brake hard in an emergency and your car has anti-lock brakes (ABS). How should you use them?
تحتاج إلى الكبح بقوة في حالة طارئة وسيارتك مزوّدة بفرامل مانعة للانغلاق (ABS). كيف تستخدمها؟
- Pump the brake pedal on and off repeatedlyاضغط دوّاسة الفرامل ثم ارفعها بشكل متكرّر
- Press the brake gently so the ABS does not switch onاضغط الفرامل برفق كي لا تعمل الـ ABS
- Press the footbrake firmly and hold it until you have slowed enoughاضغط الفرامل بثبات واستمرّ حتى تبطئ بما يكفيإجابة صحيحة
- Rely on ABS to stop you in a much shorter distanceاعتمد على الـ ABS لإيقافك في مسافة أقصر بكثير
لماذا؟
تنص القاعدة 120 من قانون الطريق على أنك في حالة طارئة تضغط الفرامل بقوة ولا ترفع الضغط حتى تبطئ المركبة إلى السرعة التي تريدها. فالـ ABS تساعدك على الاحتفاظ بالتحكّم في التوجيه، لكنها لا تعني أن السيارة ستتوقّف في مسافة أقصر.
Rule 120 of The Highway Code says that in an emergency you should apply the footbrake firmly and not release the pressure until the vehicle has slowed to the speed you want. ABS helps you keep steering control, but it does not mean the car will stop in a shorter distance.
