Your car stalls and will not restart while you are on a railway level crossing. What should you do first?
توقّف محرك سيارتك ولم يعد يبدأ وأنت على معبر سكة حديد (level crossing). ماذا تفعل أولاً؟
- Stay in the car and keep trying to start the engineابقَ في السيارة واستمرّ في محاولة تشغيل المحرك
- Push the car forward onto the middle of the crossingادفع السيارة إلى منتصف المعبر
- Get everyone out and clear of the crossing straight awayأخرج الجميع وابتعد عن المعبر فوراًإجابة صحيحة
- Wait in the car for the barriers to liftانتظر في السيارة حتى تُرفع الحواجز
لماذا؟
تنص القاعدة 299 من قانون الطريق على أنه إذا تعطّلت مركبتك على معبر سكة حديد فيجب أن تُخرج الجميع وتبتعد عن المعبر فوراً. ثم استخدم هاتف السكة الحديدية، إن وُجد، لإبلاغ عامل الإشارة (signal operator). ولا تحرّك السيارة إلا إذا كان هناك وقت قبل قدوم قطار.
Rule 299 of The Highway Code says that if your vehicle breaks down on a level crossing you must get everyone out and clear of the crossing at once. Then use the railway telephone, if there is one, to tell the signal operator. Only move the car if there is time before a train comes.
