You are parked and waiting for someone. What does the Highway Code say about leaving the engine running?
أنت متوقف وتنتظر شخصًا. ماذا يقول قانون الطريق عن ترك المحرك دائرًا؟
- Keep it running so the car is warm and readyأبقِه دائرًا لتبقى السيارة دافئة وجاهزة
- It is fine to leave it running for as long as you likeلا بأس بتركه دائرًا كما تشاء
- Switch it off if you are likely to be stationary for more than a short time, to cut emissionsأطفئه إن كنت ستبقى متوقفًا أكثر من وقت قصير، لتقليل الانبعاثات (emissions)إجابة صحيحة
- Rev the engine now and then to save fuelزد دوران المحرك من حين لآخر لتوفير الوقود
لماذا؟
المحرك الدائر دون أن يتحرك يهدر الوقود ويلوّث الهواء. تنص القاعدة 123 من قانون الطريق على أنه يجب ألّا تترك محرك المركبة دائرًا دون داعٍ أثناء توقفها على الطريق، لذا أطفئه إن كنت ستتوقف أكثر من دقيقتين.
A running engine that is going nowhere just wastes fuel and pollutes the air. Rule 123 of The Highway Code says you must not leave a vehicle's engine running unnecessarily while it is stationary on a road, so switch off if you will be stopped for more than a couple of minutes.
