A sign warns of loose chippings after the road has been resurfaced. How should you drive on this stretch?
لافتة تحذّر من حصى مفكوك (loose chippings) بعد إعادة رصف الطريق. كيف ينبغي أن تقود على هذا الامتداد؟
- Slow down and leave a bigger gap, as stones can be thrown up and grip is reducedأبطئ واترك مسافة أكبر، فالحصى قد يتطاير والتماسك يقلّإجابة صحيحة
- Keep to the speed limit, as the surface makes no differenceالتزم بحدّ السرعة فالسطح لا يُحدث فرقًا
- Drive close behind the car in front to stay out of the loose stonesقُد قريبًا خلف السيارة أمامك لتتفادى الحصى المفكوك
- Speed up to spend less time on the loose surfaceأسرِع لتقضي وقتًا أقل على السطح المفكوك
لماذا؟
تنص القاعدة 125 من قانون الطريق على أن تخفّض سرعتك حسب حالة الطريق والظروف. على الحصى المفكوك (loose chippings) يقلّ التماسك فيزيد خطر الانزلاق، وقد يتطاير الحصى فيتلف الزجاج الأمامي، لذا أبطئ وابقَ متأخرًا بمسافة كافية عن المركبة أمامك.
Rule 125 of The Highway Code says you should reduce speed for the road surface and conditions. On loose chippings the reduced grip can cause skidding, and stones thrown up can damage windscreens, so slow down and keep well back from the vehicle ahead.
