What does holding a category B+E licence let you do that a normal category B licence may not?
- Tow heavier trailers above the category B limitsCorrect
- Drive a large bus carrying many passengers
- Ride a motorcycle without displaying L plates
- Drive a lorry weighing over 7,500 kg
Why?
Category B is the standard car licence. Adding B+E lets you tow heavier trailers than category B alone allows, with a combined weight normally up to 7,000 kg. Larger lorries and buses still need their own categories. Licence categories are covered in Annex 3 of The Highway Code.
