Safety margins
You are feeling tired on a long drive. How does this affect your safety margins?
- Tiredness dulls your judgement, so you should stop and restCorrect
- It has no effect as long as you stay under the limit
- It only matters at night
- Opening a window fully removes the risk
Why?
Rule 91 of The Highway Code says driving when tired greatly increases crash risk, as it slows reactions and weakens your judgement of speed and gaps. Take a break of at least 15 minutes after every two hours of driving.
