Vulnerable road users

You are turning right across a line of slow-moving traffic. What should you look out for?

  • Only oncoming cars in the far lane
  • Nothing, as the queuing traffic protects you
  • Pedestrians on the pavement behind you
  • Cyclists or motorcyclists passing on the inside of the traffic you cross
    Correct

Why?

Rule 211 of The Highway Code says that when turning right across slow-moving or stationary traffic, you should look out for and give way to cyclists or motorcyclists filtering on the inside of the traffic you are crossing.
