Before towing a trailer, what must you check about its weight?
قبل قطر مقطورة، ماذا يجب أن تتحقّق منه بشأن وزنها؟
- That it does not exceed what your vehicle and licence allowألّا يتجاوز ما تسمح به مركبتك ورخصتكإجابة صحيحة
- That it is heavier than the car for better gripأن تكون أثقل من السيارة لتماسك أفضل
- That it weighs exactly the same as the carأن تزن تماماً مثل السيارة
- Weight does not matter on short tripsالوزن لا يهمّ في الرحلات القصيرة
لماذا؟
تنص القاعدة 98 من قانون الطريق على ألّا تُحمّل فوق الطاقة وألّا تقطر أكثر مما تسمح به رخصتك. فيجب أن تبقى المقطورة المحمّلة ضمن قدرة القطر (towing capacity) التي حدّدها الصانع لسيارتك وضمن حدود رخصتك، وإلّا أصبحت القافلة غير آمنة ومخالفة للقانون.
Rule 98 of The Highway Code says you must not overload and must not tow more than your licence permits. The loaded trailer must stay within the manufacturer's towing capacity for your car and within your licence limits, or the outfit becomes unsafe and illegal.
