A wheelchair user is crossing the road at a dropped kerb where there is no marked crossing. What should you do?
مستخدم كرسي متحرّك يعبر الطريق عند رصيف منخفض (dropped kerb) لا يوجد عنده ممر مخطّط. ماذا يجب أن تفعل؟
- Slow down, be patient and give way to let them crossخفّف السرعة وكن صبورًا وأفسح له الطريق ليعبرإجابة صحيحة
- Carry on, as they should use a proper crossingتابع السير، فعليه استخدام ممر مخصّص
- Drive close past behind them to save timeقُد قريبًا من خلفه لتوفّر الوقت
- Wave them back onto the pavementلوّح له بالعودة إلى الرصيف
لماذا؟
مستخدمو الكراسي المتحرّكة من الأكثر عرضة للخطر ويجلسون منخفضين، فيسهل إغفالهم. تنص القاعدتان 204 و206 من قانون الطريق على الانتباه لذوي الإعاقة وإفساح الطريق لهم، والقيادة بحذر قرب مواضع عبورهم.
Wheelchair users are among the most vulnerable and sit low down, so are easy to miss. Rules 204 and 206 of The Highway Code say to look out for and give way to disabled people, driving carefully near where they cross.
