The lights turn green at a junction with an advanced stop line and cyclists are waiting in the cycle box. What should you do?
- Accelerate past them as quickly as you can
- Sound your horn so they move out of your way
- Squeeze past closely on their right side
- Allow them time and room to move off firstCorrect
Why?
Rule 178 says you should allow cyclists time and space to move off when the lights change. They are ahead of you at the stop line for their safety, so hold back and let them pull away before you go.
