You come up behind horse riders on a country road. How should you pass them?
- Accelerate past closely so you are gone quickly
- Slow to no more than 10 mph and pass wide and slowCorrect
- Sound your horn so the horses know you are there
- Rev your engine to encourage the horses to move over
Why?
Rule 215 says when you see a horse on the road you should slow down to a maximum of 10 mph, be patient, and not sound your horn or rev your engine. Pass wide and slow, leaving at least 2 metres of space.
