You have finished a drink while driving. What does The Highway Code say about the empty can?
- You may drop it out of the window on a quiet road
- You must not throw it or any rubbish from the vehicleCorrect
- You can toss it out if there is a bin nearby
- You may leave it at the roadside when you stop
Why?
Rule 147 says you must not throw anything out of a vehicle, such as food, cans, paper or cigarette ends. Littering is inconsiderate to others and can be dangerous to road users and animals; keep your rubbish until you can bin it.
