You reach a yellow box junction, but traffic ahead means your exit road is blocked. What should you do?

Wait before the box until your exit is clear
Correct
Enter the box and stop inside it to hold your place
Drive into the box and edge forward slowly
Cross the box quickly before the gap closes

Why?

Rule 174 says you MUST NOT enter a box junction until your exit road or lane is clear. Waiting before the box keeps the junction free for traffic crossing it and is more considerate to others.
