Attitude

You have stopped at a zebra crossing for a pedestrian. Should you wave them across?

  • Yes, wave them across so they know it is safe
  • No, waiting quietly is safer than waving them on
    Correct
  • Yes, flash your headlights to invite them over
  • Yes, sound your horn so they cross quickly

Why?

Rule 195 says do not wave, flash your lights or use your horn to invite pedestrians across; another vehicle may be approaching that you cannot control. Simply wait and let the pedestrian decide when it is safe to cross.
