Another vehicle begins to overtake you on a clear road. What should you do?

  • Speed up so they cannot get past you
  • Swerve towards them to make them drop back
  • Keep a steady speed and let them complete it

Why?

Rule 168 says that speeding up or driving unpredictably while someone is overtaking you is dangerous. Hold a steady course and, if anything, ease off slightly so they can pass and pull back in safely.
