What can happen if you drive a car without holding the correct valid licence for it?
- Nothing at all, as long as you drive carefully
- You can be fined and given penalty pointsCorrect

- You only have to inform your insurer afterwards
Why?
Driving a vehicle you are not correctly licensed for is an offence. You can be fined and given penalty points, and it can also invalidate your insurance. Penalties for driving offences are set out in Annex 5 of The Highway Code.
