Hazard awareness

You are approaching a roundabout where buildings block your view to the right. What should you do?

  • Slow right down and be ready to give way to traffic you cannot yet see
    Correct
  • Speed up to join before other traffic arrives
  • Assume the roundabout is clear and drive on
  • Stop in the middle of the roundabout to look

Why?

Rule 187 of The Highway Code says at a roundabout you should watch out for traffic you cannot easily see, including vehicles already on it. Where your view is limited, slow down and be ready to give way to whatever may be approaching.
