There are several casualties after a crash. Which of them should you attend to first?
- The one who is shouting the loudest
- Those who cannot breathe or are bleeding heavilyCorrect
- Whichever casualty is nearest to you
- The youngest person at the scene
Why?
Annex 7 of The Highway Code says to deal with life-threatening problems first. A casualty who cannot breathe or is bleeding heavily needs help before someone who is shouting, because a person able to shout is at least breathing. Treat the quiet, still casualties as a priority.
