Road and traffic signs
You see a solid blue circular sign with a white arrow or symbol on it. What does this type of sign do?
- It warns you of danger ahead
- It gives a mandatory instruction you must follow, such as 'turn left'Correct
- It marks the end of a restriction
- It simply points the way to a town
Why?
Blue circular signs give a positive, mandatory instruction — something you must do, such as 'turn left ahead' or 'keep left'. This is different from a red-ringed circle, which tells you what you must not do. Rule 109 of The Highway Code says you must obey signs giving orders.
