Road and traffic signs

Bend to the left ahead

What does this triangular sign warn you about?

  • You must turn left here
  • There is a sharp bend to the left ahead
    Correct
  • No left turn
  • Keep to the left

Why?

A red-bordered triangle warns of a hazard, and this symbol means a sharp bend to the left is ahead. Slow down before the bend, not during it, so you keep control. The Highway Code groups all bend warnings under these triangular signs.
