Road and traffic signs
As well as a police officer's signals, whose signals directing traffic must you obey?
- Only those of other car drivers
- A school crossing patrol showing a STOP signCorrect
- Anyone waving at the roadside
- Your passengers giving directions
Why?
Rule 105 of The Highway Code says you must obey signals given by police officers, traffic officers and traffic wardens, and the STOP sign shown by a school crossing patrol. These people are authorised to control traffic, so their signals override the normal flow.
