Rules of the road

You are driving in a one-way street and want to turn right at the end. Where should you position your vehicle?

  • In the left-hand lane
  • In the right-hand lane
    Correct
  • In the centre of the road only
  • Any lane, choosing at the last moment

Why?

In a one-way street you may use either lane, but you should get into the correct lane for your exit as early as you can. For a right turn, use the right-hand lane. Rule 143 of The Highway Code explains this.
