Your tyres are worn and nearly smooth. On a wet road, what is the effect?

Braking is unaffected by tyre wear
You stop more quickly in the wet
Your stopping distance increases because of less grip

Why?

Rule 227 of The Highway Code links wet-road stopping distances to how much grip your tyres have. Worn, smooth tyres clear far less water, so grip drops and your stopping distance grows — keep well back and slow down.
