Safety margins
You are driving in thick fog. Why should you keep well back from the vehicle in front?
- Its rear lights can give a false sense of securityCorrect
- So the driver ahead cannot see you
- Because fog shortens your stopping distance
- So you can overtake it more easily
Why?
Rule 235 of The Highway Code warns that in fog the rear lights of the vehicle ahead can give a false sense of security. Keep a safe distance so you can pull up well within the distance you can see clearly.
