You are driving on snow. How should you adjust the gap to the vehicle in front?

Keep the usual two-second gap
Halve the gap so you don't lose sight of it
Keep close to follow its tyre tracks
Leave a much bigger gap, as stopping can take ten times longer
Correct

Why?

Rule 228 of The Highway Code, with rule 126, warns that in snow and ice stopping distances can be up to ten times greater than on a dry road. Keep well back, drive slowly and brake very gently.
