You are towing a heavy trailer down a long hill. What is a good way to help control your speed?

Hold the clutch down all the way
Select a lower gear before the descent
Correct
Coast in neutral to save the brakes
Keep a smaller gap to the car in front

Why?

Rule 160 of The Highway Code advises selecting a lower gear when towing downhill so engine braking helps control your speed. The extra weight lengthens braking, so also keep a much bigger gap than usual.
