Vehicle handling
You're driving in thick fog and switch on your rear fog lights. When must you switch them off?
- Never, as long as it is still cloudy
- As soon as visibility improvesCorrect
- Only when you leave the motorway
- After it gets dark
Why?
Fog lights are very bright and can dazzle drivers behind you and hide your brake lights once visibility is no longer poor. Rule 236 of The Highway Code says you must switch off front and rear fog lights as soon as visibility improves, using them only when visibility drops to 100 metres or less.
