Vehicle handling

When is it unwise to use cruise control?

  • On a dry, clear motorway at a steady speed
  • In wet, icy or slow-moving traffic conditions
    Correct
  • On any road with a speed limit
  • Whenever you have a passenger

Why?

Rule 150 of The Highway Code says you MUST keep proper control of your vehicle and not rely on driver assistance systems such as cruise control. In wet, icy or busy conditions it can slow your response, so keep full control yourself.
