Vehicle loading
How should you drive when your vehicle is heavily loaded?
- Brake and corner harder than normal
- Exactly as if the car were empty
- Brake earlier and take corners more gentlyCorrect
- Speed up to stay in control
Why?
Rule 98 of The Highway Code warns that a load affects the handling of your vehicle and increases your stopping distance. Brake earlier, leave a bigger gap and slow down more before corners, because a heavy load makes the vehicle harder to stop and steer.
