Vehicle loading
You're carrying a long load that sticks out at the back of your car. What must you do?
- Nothing, as long as it is tied on
- Make sure it is secure and does not stick out dangerouslyCorrect
- Drive with the boot fully open and the load loose
- Cover your rear lights with it
Why?
Rule 98 of The Highway Code says any load must be secured and must not stick out dangerously. A long overhanging load must be fastened firmly and made clearly visible so other road users are aware of it.
