A loaded trailer weighing over 750 kg must have what?

  • A second driver on board
  • A working brake system
    Correct
  • Two number plates at the front
  • No lights fitted at all

Why?

Rule 98 of The Highway Code says a trailer must be roadworthy with an efficient braking system. In law a loaded trailer over 750 kg must have a working brake system, and every trailer must have working lights, so it can stop and be seen safely.
