You want to fit a rear-facing baby seat in the front passenger seat. When is this allowed?
- Whenever the baby is under six months old
- Only on short journeys under 30 minutes
- Any time, as the airbag will protect the baby
- Only if the front airbag is switched offCorrect
Why?
Rule 101 of The Highway Code says a rear-facing baby seat must never be used in a seat protected by an active frontal airbag. You may only fit one in the front if that airbag has been deactivated, otherwise it could strike the seat with great force in a crash.
