You have finished a towing trip and unhitched the trailer. What should you do with the extension towing mirrors?

  • Leave them on for a wider view every day
  • Angle them at the pavement
  • Cover them with tape
  • Remove them, as they are not needed without a trailer
    Correct

Why?

Rule 98 of The Highway Code says you must fit towing mirrors if a trailer blocks your rearward view, and they must give a clear view down both sides. Once you are no longer towing you should remove them, because using them without a trailer can impair your view and is an offence.
