Vehicle loading
You are tying down a load. What should you use to secure it?
- Straps or ropes in good conditionCorrect
- An old rope that is frayed and worn
- A single loose bungee cord
- Nothing, if the load feels heavy enough
Why?
Rule 98 of The Highway Code says a load must be secured so it cannot move or fall off. Use strong straps or ropes in good condition; frayed or worn ropes can snap and let the load shift or fall into the road, endangering others.
