Alertness

You develop a health condition that is likely to affect your driving. What must you do?

  • Tell the DVLA about the condition
    Correct
  • Only tell your insurance company
  • Nothing, unless a doctor tells you to stop driving
  • Renew your driving licence early

Why?

The DVLA needs to know about conditions that could make you unsafe so they can decide whether you are still allowed to drive. Rule 90 of The Highway Code says you must report to the DVLA any health condition that is likely to affect your driving.
