Alertness

As you approach a junction, which road users should you take extra care to look for because they are not always easy to see?

  • Large lorries and buses
  • Cyclists, motorcyclists and pedestrians
    Correct
  • Vehicles with their headlights on
  • Cars towing trailers

Why?

Narrow or small road users are easily hidden by other traffic or blind spots at a junction. Rule 170 of The Highway Code says you should take extra care at junctions and watch out for cyclists, motorcyclists and pedestrians, as they are not always easy to see.
