Alertness
On a frosty morning your windows are iced up and misted. What must you do before you drive off?
- Clear a small patch on the windscreen and set off
- Fully clear ice and mist from all your windows so you can see outCorrect
- Drive slowly until the windows clear themselves
- Rely on your mirrors only
Why?
You cannot observe hazards through iced or misted glass, and a small clear patch is not enough. Rule 229 of The Highway Code says you MUST be able to see, so before you set off you must clear all ice, snow and mist from every window.
