You approach traffic lights showing red with an advanced stop line (a cycle box) ahead. Where should you stop?
- At the first white line, leaving the cycle box clearCorrect

- Just past the lights so you can move off quickly
Why?
Rule 178 says motorists must stop at the first white line reached if the lights are amber or red, leaving the marked area (the cycle box) clear for cyclists. This gives cyclists a safe space at the front of the queue.
