Essential documents

Why must you give your insurer correct and full information when you take out a policy?

  • To get points removed from your licence
  • So the DVLA can tax your car for you
  • It lowers the national speed limit for you
  • Wrong or missing details can make the policy invalid
    Correct

Why?

Insurers set your cover based on the facts you give, such as your address, any penalty points and any changes to the car. If you give wrong or incomplete information, the policy can be invalid, leaving you effectively uninsured. Valid insurance is a required document in Annex 3 of The Highway Code.
