Essential documents

You have made a SORN for your car. Where are you allowed to keep it?

  • Parked on the public road outside your house
  • In any on-street parking bay
  • On a public road, as long as it is insured
  • Off the public road, such as on a drive or in a garage
    Correct

Why?

A car with a SORN is declared off the road, so it must be kept somewhere off the public road, such as a drive, garage or private land. It cannot be parked or driven on a public road until you tax and insure it again. Vehicle tax rules are covered in Annex 3 of The Highway Code.
