Why do you need to use your mirrors earlier and look further ahead on a motorway than on ordinary roads?
- Because higher speeds give you less time to react to what happens aheadCorrect

- Because you must signal for longer
- Because the speed limit is lower
Why?
Everything happens faster at motorway speeds. Rule 254 of The Highway Code says that because traffic is moving quickly you have less time to react, so you should use your mirrors earlier and look much further ahead than you would on a slower road.
